if you can't beat the heat....

you join it! this what our temp has been like here lately....

we go walk in it! and sweat....and sweat.....oh well, it must be good for me some how!

An unexpected day off!!

My work called this morning, as I was literally walking out the door with my purse in hand, to see if I wanted the day off. Heck yeah!! Sweet!! I was just saying yesterday, as I do every Sunday, I wish I didn't have to go to work tomorrow. I guess someone heard me. :) Actually, I was on call all weekend and I got called in Saturday morning, so that's probably why they called me. Oh well....I will enjoy another day with my hubby, seeing as we don't get to many of those these days. It sucks working opposite shifts, it's definately hard on a marriage, but who said marriage is easy? Not me! Marriage takes work, I think we all know that.

Everyone here is doing pretty good, we've had a tough June and we're hoping things will start looking up. Dan seems to be doing ok, I'm sure yesterday was tough with his dad just passing and it being father's day. He wore one of his father's shirts to church and he said that that was going to be his new tradition on father's day. His family has been through so much hurt it's hard to see. All we can do is pray for strength and recall all the beautiful memories that we shared with loved ones who are gone now.

Finner's is doing so good! He's got 2 teeth and is just on the verge of crawling. He sat up yesterday for the 1st time by himself. I had him on the floor playing while I was reading the paper, I look up and there he is all sitting up my himself. I missed the whole thing! He did do it again last night, which I got to see. :)

We all went swimming last night at our friend's Adam and Julie's house. For the 1st 20 minutes or so Finn was very serious and didn't know what to think of this gigantic bathtub. (The 1st time he went swimming he fell asleep). It was so hot here yesterday, we hit 100 and set a new record, that the pool water was warm like bath water. Anyways, after awhile he came around and was splashing all over the place. He didn't seem to mind the water in his face at all. He's so much fun now & we have a good time with him!

We also went to a baseball game this weekend that was ABSOLUTELY miserable. It was in the evening, but there was NO breeze to speak of so we were all sweating profusely. Finn was up 2 night's past his bedtime. :) He's such a good baby though, just goes with the flow.

babywearing & craigslist bargains!!

We're going on vacation in a few weeks & this baby backpack is a must for what we're doing. :) We're going all the way up to the very tip of north GA camping. We're borrowing my parent's camper & truck and heading to the mountains for 4 days. Can't wait! Anyways, we've never been camping with a baby before, or hiking, or fishing, or....you get my point. When I saw this on craigslist I knew I better snatch it up for $10. :) This was our 1st attempt at it, I was a little nervous considering I'm here by myself & I was glad he didn't fall out the 1st time. Actually, it was really easy and I think he likes it. I don't think he quite knew what to think of it really. This is my attempt of picture also, not very good, but I tried!

These are the last pictures taken of our dog, Jack. He was diagnosed with highly metestatic lymphoma and we had to put him to sleep. That was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. We LOVED this dog and he was definately part of the family. He will be greatly missed. We LOVE you Jackson. :)

back to normal

Well, a week has past & it's now time to try to get our lives back to normal. It's not easy, but everyday is a new day & hopefully the sadness will ease with time. Dan is doing as well as he can. I think it helps to get back to work and get back in our routine. It was hard going back to Mayo for me today though b/c that is where he died. It's strange. And sad.

We've been REALLY concerned about our bulldog Jack. He's had a serious infection in his chest now for over a week & we're finally seeing some improvement tonight. He hasn't eaten in 9 days & today he ate!!! :) We are SUPER excited about this & hope it means he's getting better. I take him back to the vet tomorrow to see if the infection has improved or not. As long as he's eating & drinking & keeping that down I feel so much better. If the infection is not better then I'm afraid of what we might have to do. Please pray he gets better. The timing of him getting sick just could not be worse. Jack LOVED Dan's dad & this has made this all the more hard to deal with. I've cried more tears over this dog......

Here is a new picture of my boy Finn that my friend Ellen emailed me tonight. And now I'm off to finish watching the movie Fool's Gold, who in it Matthew Mcaughney plays someone named Finn!! My Finner's is much cuter though. :)

Dan's dad

Dan's dad passed away early this morning from cardiac arrest. We went right to the hospital but did not make it in time. His heart just could not handle all that was happening to him. Please pray for all of us at this difficult time. He's in a far better place and I'm sure he & Michele are sitting on a bench talking about cars. :) His body is finally at rest.
