so sleepy...

It's been awhile. I usually do a post every weekend but I just haven't gotten to it yet.
My parent's were here over Thanksgiving & we had such a good time with them. Thanksgiving was great & my dad & I did our early shopping on black Friday. We were at Sear's at 3:45. Crazy!!! But, I got my vacuum cleaner I wanted.
Anyways, and then Finn's party was on Saturday. His b-day isn't actually until next Tuesday but since the family on both sides were here we wanted to have it then. It turned out great & Finny was probably over stimulated by everyone, but I think he loved it. Anyways, I'm rambling b/c I am so tired & sleep deprived....and I'm on call at work tomorrow & I'm going to have to work really late. I am NOT happy about that. See...I'm rambling. Good night!

weekly wrap..

So this morning I woke up feeling like crap. I'm afraid I've caught a cold. I was wondering why I was sneezing a lot yesterday. I just hope I get over it very quickly b/c there's so much going on this week. I have so MUCH to look forward to.

My parent's are coming Tuesday, Thanksgiving is Thursday, shopping with my dad on Friday, and Finn's 1st b-day party on Saturday. So, you see? I can't afford to not feel well with so much excitement going on around here.

This has been a lazy weekend for me so far. Yesterday I didn't even leave the house till dinner time & that was to just go pick up some food. Finn's been a little cranky the last 2 days. His nose is running uncontrollably & he's got some major teeth coming in. He has 8 already & I guess more are on their way. He's been having so much saliva in his mouth he's having a hard time eating soft food. He's literally gagging on it. Poor dude. I feel so bad for him. Yesterday for lunch I toasted that new round bread & spread a little peanut butter on it for him. It was easier for him to eat & he loved it. Any tips on this from anyone??

I got a new headboard yesterday for our bedroom. I've been looking for literally months for something on craigslist & haven't found a thing. I was at my friend Jackie's house last Friday night for dinner & as I was leaving I saw a headboard propped up in her garage. I asked her if it was for sale & she said "that? you can have it!". So, I got it. :) Dan borrowed a friend's truck yesterday & went & picked it up for me. It's just a headboard, not the headboard/footboard that I was looking for, but it matches & even better it was free! Can't beat that. If I decide to make my bed today, I'll take a pic & post it.

Well, I can't do a post without a few pics so here are 2 of Finn I toke yesterday. He woke up from his nap with some serious "bed head". I thought he was just too cute. I can't wait for his party next weekend!!!!!!!!!!

ready for the holidays!

I'm so ready for the holidays, aren't you??? I LOVE Thanksgiving, I think it's my most favorite holiday of the year. It's like a prelude to Christmas, which is right up there too as one of my favorites. Finn is at such a fun age right now so that makes me even more excited! His b-day is coming up(which is hard to believe) & his b-day party is in less than 3 weeks! My parents will be here in a little over a week & I just can't wait. Can you tell I'm excited?? I just love this time of year. I have SO MUCH to be thankful for. Friends, family, a home, a good job, a wonderful husband, an adorable son....the list could go on & on. I hope this week goes by quickly so my festivities will begin soon! :)

I can't leave without a pic of my little one. I took him to the playground this afternoon & here he is playing. I think he had fun, what do you think??

the weekend

So I had a busy Saturday this weekend. One of my best friend's Rebecca came down from Macon to stay for 2 nights. A college friend of hers who is from Jacksonville got married last night & I went as Rebecca's date. :) But, before the wedding we headed on up to Atlantic Beach to my friend Barbette's house to check out the air show. Barbette lives 4 blocks from the beach so we all walked over & watched the blue angels above us. I'm not sure why but I LOVE airplanes & I especially love the loud noise as they fly literally right over us. I'm completely amazed at how those 6 planes can fly in such a close formation as they do...Can you tell I like planes???

After the air show we headed back to Barbette's to get ready for the wedding. She was so sweet and had out appetizers for us & we had such a great time chatting & hanging on her back deck. Here's a picture of us all ready for the wedding, which was great by the way. The reception was also very nice & we had a great time. Rebecca got to chat with old friends and I got to people watch. :)

And on to my cute little guy. Here he is letting us know that he wants to watch Baby Einstein. He LOVES it now & it's so cute when he's ready to watch it. He is 11 months old today & tonight I've started on his b-day invitations. I'm using construction paper & doing them by hand. :) He spent all day yesterday with his daddy & I am so grateful! Dan does a great job with him & Finn definately loves his daddy. and I enjoyed an unusual day off.

So now we head back to work tomorrow & start another week all over again. How I love my weekends! The only time we get to be a family... By I'm ending my weekend good. I'm eating 2 pumpkin donuts & drinking coffee...yum....

I was looking through some old pictures and saw this one! I can't believe this was almost a year ago! My little boy is almost 1 and I don't know where the time has gone. I have loved every minute of it & I have loved this little guy with more love than I knew I ever had. I'm really looking forward to the holidays this year. Thanksgiving is my favorite time followed closely by Christmas. We will have a house full this year for Thanksgiving & I can't wait!! God has been so great & my blessing are overflowing...That said, would y'all take a minute & say a quick unspoken prayer request for me? I'll let you know this weekend what it's all about. Thank you!!

question for moms...

Okay, this question is for mom's who had formula babies. Did you wait until exactly 12 months of age to switch over to the whole milk?? Finn's almost 11 months & I'm just so sick of formula. I've tried giving him a little milk in a cup & he seemed to like it. Would it be to early for me to start mixing it half & half? or just switching completely over to the whole milk?? Thanks for your responses. :)

so tired..

This has been just a horrible week. It started Monday night with a report of a missing little girl in FL. Well, that was right here where I live. This little innocent 7 year old girl was walking home from school with her siblings when she got in an argument with one of them & she ran on ahead. Well...she was never made it home. My heart just dropped when I saw the news bulletin across the bottom of the tv screen. All I could do was pray. This neighborhood is literally 10 minutes down the road..
They found the little girl's body yesterday afternoon in a landfill in GA. The police followed the trash pick up to the landfill & began searching. Apparently this is protacol for something like this, I don't think they were really expecting to find anything, but they did. This just makes me sick to my stomach. I literally could not eat my dinner last night b/c all this is so upsetting. This is just too close to comfort. I don't know how anyone could do this. I can't imagine being that mother. I can't imagine never seeing my child again. I can't imagine her last moments on this earth.
Needless to say this has just bothered me all week. The community has rallied around this family, it's so amazing to see. The autopsy results should be out either tonight or tomorrow so we should know more then. The police are investigating non stop. There is someone out there who did this! They are searching a dumpster that was near an abandoned house near where she was last seen. My only hope is that maybe she got in the dumpster somehow to hide or something & maybe hit or head or something. I don't know, it's a thought. Although, the police suspect foul play.
I'm just glad tomorrow is Friday!! I've got to go to bed early tonight & get some rest. I have not slept good this week.

On a happier note, we're planning to take a little day trip this Saturday. We've invited Dan's mom so maybe she'll come too. :) I hope everyone else has had a nice week!

crazy morning!

So yesterday morning was the annual Susan B.Komen Race for the Cure here in Jax and this is my 4th yr participating. Only 2 of us signed up this year so we agreed to bring our "babies". Mine, being of course, Finn and my friend Barbette bringing her granddaughter Zoe, who spends the weekends with her. Anyways, the drama all started the night before. Here's the lowdown, I'll do the short version....

*Finn would NOT go to sleep on Friday night. 9 o'clock and he'd still in there jumping in his crib....
*Finally went to sleep around 10.
*Got him up Sat morning at 7:15...had everything timed out perfectly...
*His pants were to big(it's finally chilly here), finally found a pair that fit decently
*Drank his 8 oz bottle then proceded to throw it ALL back up
*Threw up all over his pants, my legs, the floor, you name it.....
* Had to change his clothes, nothing by shorts to put on him now..
*Left the house late...no breakfast..
*Stop at McDonalds for a biscuit, line is around the building but I wait...
*Finally on my way, Barbette calls, she's running late too...Thank Goodness!!!
*Feeding Finn goldfish to try to fill his belly since he's had no milk now...
*Approaching downtown & the police are detouring us to parking..
*Parking is WAY far from the park, rediculous!!!
*It takes me 15 min from my car to the park, I timed it, I was so mad...
*Finally met Barbette with 5 minutes to spare before the race started...
*Decided after all that not to walk the 3 miles since we already walked 2 to get there!!
*Enjoyed our time around the venue and played with the kiddies...
*Will do better planning next year, allow more timing...
*But the weather was incredible and the company was good....

Here's a few pics to enjoy...

I really enjoy doing this walk for remembering & celebrating all the lives that have been touched with breast cancer. Cancer is such a HORRIBLE disease & I hope one day they do find a cure...
